Knowing how to check Dubai visa by passport number only saves you from hunting for an application number you may have lost. For most checks, your passport number, together with your nationality and either your passport expiry date or your date of birth, is all the portal needs. The catch is that the UAE runs two visa systems, and choosing the wrong one is the main reason searches fail.

Visas and entry permits are managed by two government bodies that are separate but increasingly linked. Find out which one issued your visa before you open any website. Look at the visa document or your application emails.

If your visa was issued for entry through Dubai, start with GDRFA Dubai. If it was issued by any other emirate, use ICP. If one returns nothing, try the other.
How do you run the passport check on ICP Smart Services?
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), formerly the ICA, has a search option built for exactly this: search by passport information. You need three details from your passport:

Passport expiry date
Nationality
Open the official ICP Smart Services website and go to the Public Services menu.
Choose the “File Validity” or “Entry Permit/Residency Status” service.
On the inquiry screen, select “Passport Information” as the search type.
Pick the record type (usually Visa or Residency), enter the passport number exactly as printed, enter the expiry date in the requested format (usually DD/MM/YYYY), and select your nationality.
Complete the CAPTCHA and press Search.
If the file is in the federal system, the result shows the current status, the validity dates, and the Unified Number (UID) linked to your record. Note the UID for future reference.
What does GDRFA Dubai ask for that ICP does not?
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) portal historically relied on file or application numbers. For a general validity check, passport details are now the core input, but the form is less standard. It usually asks for your date of birth instead of the passport expiry date:
Passport number and nationality
Date of birth
Gender
Visa type or category, such as Visit or Residency
Open the official GDRFA Dubai Smart Services portal and find “File Validity” or “Visa and Residency Status Inquiry”.
Choose “Entry Permit Inquiry” for a newly issued tourist or visit visa, or “Residency Inquiry” for a long-term visa.
Select your nationality, then enter your passport number, date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY), and gender.
Complete the security check and press Submit.
The portal matches your passport details and date of birth and returns the active status and expiry date of your Dubai-issued permit. If you applied through VisaTop or another agency, you also received an application reference number. While the visa is still pending, you can use it alongside your passport number. Once the visa is issued, the passport check is the more reliable long-term option.
Why is a passport check better than an application number check?
The application number is temporary and only useful during processing. Your passport details are tied to your permanent immigration file, which stays active for the life of the visa. You are checking the final visa, not the paperwork behind it.

For a visitor, the expiry date is the detail that matters most, because missing it leads to overstay penalties. The passport check gives you that date directly.
Where do the UID and Emirates ID fit in?
Everyone who enters the UAE immigration system receives a Unified ID (UID). When you search by passport, the portal retrieves the file linked to that UID. Residents who later receive an Emirates ID can use that number for government services. For tourists, new arrivals, and anyone checking a pending entry permit, the passport number remains the only reliable key.
What does “No Record Found” mean, and how do you fix it?
It usually does not mean the visa is cancelled. It normally means you are searching in the wrong place or typed something slightly wrong. Work through these checks:
Wrong portal: the most common cause. If ICP found nothing, try GDRFA Dubai, and the other way round.
Typing error: recheck the passport number and the expiry date or date of birth. One wrong character breaks the lookup.
Too new: an application submitted less than 48 hours ago may not have reached the main database. Wait one or two business days.
Wrong record type: make sure you selected Visa or Residency correctly in the dropdown.
