The Golden Visa UAE for Entrepreneurs is a long residence route, not a tourist visa with a business meeting attached. A tourist visa lets you visit and leave. An entrepreneur or professional Golden Visa asks you to match a category the authority publishes, then to finish medical fitness, biometrics, and Emirates ID. Who is this page for?
It is for people who may qualify through an entrepreneur route or through a professional or specialist route, and who need to see how those paths differ from a holiday. Entrepreneurs are judged on the activity the category describes. Professionals are judged on skill, role, and the record the category asks for. The two files are not interchangeable. A founder who does not meet the entrepreneur test does not become eligible by using a professional label, and a specialist does not become eligible by calling a job a startup.
Nationality does not create a private door. Attestation of foreign documents does change the timeline.
How is it different from a tourist visa?
A tourist or visit visa is an entry for a limited stay. It does not let you live in the UAE as a resident, and it does not sponsor your family. The Golden Visa, when granted, is residence for a multi-year term that can be renewed if you still qualify. You can usually spend longer outside the UAE than a short employer visa allows, and you can usually sponsor a spouse and children after you hold it. None of that starts until the category accepts you.
You have to show that you are the person the category describes. For an entrepreneur route, that means the evidence the current rule names for that activity. For a professional route, that means qualifications and a role or record at the level the rule describes. Names must match the passport. Foreign certificates often need attestation and a certified translation. A document that arrives after you submit does not repair a file the reviewer has already closed.

How does the application move?
You choose the category, prepare the evidence, and submit through the federal identity authority or the emirate residency authority that handles that route. Some talent-style professional files need a nomination before the visa form is worth sending. After the first approval, medical fitness, Emirates ID biometrics, and stamping remain. If you are outside the UAE, an entry permit lets you come in and do those steps. It is not the residence visa.
Straightforward files can move in weeks. Nomination, equivalency, or attestation problems take longer. A single promised number of days for every founder and every specialist is a guess.
What can family members do?
They do not qualify because they share your household in conversation. After your visa is issued, a spouse and children can be sponsored if you meet the family rules. Parents are often a narrower request. Start their certificates when your own category is accepted, so the attestation is still fresh. A relative who arrives early on a visit must leave or change status lawfully. The visit does not grow into a Golden Visa because you were approved in the same month.
Which mistakes stall a real category?

How do you keep the visa later?
Renewal asks whether you still qualify. Keep the activity or the professional basis that justified the visa, and file before expiry with a valid passport. If you no longer qualify, ask what cancellation or change of status requires. Family members on your visa are affected if your visa ends. Tell them early enough to change status or leave cleanly.
Selling or leaving the thing the category was built on, and then ignoring the visa in the passport, is how a long residence becomes a problem at the border.
What if you are a professional inside a company, not a founder?
Then the entrepreneur story is the wrong story unless you also meet that category on its own terms. Many specialists are closer to a skilled or talent route, or to an ordinary employer visa, than to an entrepreneur Golden Visa. An employer visa is sponsored by the company and is usually renewed on a shorter cycle. It can be the right visa. It is not a failure to “only” have a job. Pick the file you can document.

What should you do the week you decide?
